Carnival Ends

The finale of Carnival in St Thomas is great! There is the adult parade, which is all day, Carnival village is open at night and at 9PM they have fireworks over the harbor. A fun filled day. We didn’t attend it all. We saw part of the adult parade and everyone was having fun.

We did take a break when there was a gap in the parade to rehydrate at a bar as it was a hot sunny day.

We walked around Carnival Village until the music got too loud to talk and we went back to the boat where we heard the fireworks but couldn’t see them.

With Carnival over we took Alan and Annabelle on a walking tour of some of St. Thomas. We were disappointed that some attractions were already closed for the season.

We were about to start moving so we had a last party on Brewers Bay Beach and Annabelle got her hair cut by our local stylist Victoria off Procrastinate.

We motored to Honeymoon beach where we anchored. We were shocked in that Dinghys was all changed!

The cart which was the bar we helped move in front of the food trailer and is now a Boutique. The bar is now under the thatch roof and the shed that was the shop is gone. There is now a stage between the Boutique and the bar.

Once we leave Honeymoon we will head to St John and off to the BVI.

Carnival and Alan and Annabelle’s visit begins

Carnival in St Thomas lasts a month. There are many activities throughout the month and they occur all around Charlotte Amelia. So we have been busy seeing the events. We missed may of the events as they occur at night and the Safaris do not run that late and taxis are hard to find. There are a number of parades toward the end of the month which worked out very well as my brother Alan and his friend Annabelle arrived the 29^th of April.

The beach slide

The University had a beach party one day with a huge blow up slide. We didn’t get to slide down it as it was inflated then deflated many times and we were always on the beach at the wrong time.

Another day was a food fair where there were scores of food booths and souvenir booths. It was fun getting different foods at the booths.

There was also a water front day where again there were many food and sound booths, and there were power boat races in the harbor. They also had come classic cars and bikes on display as well as a bunch of Volkswagens.

Unfortunately the Sargasso sea weed blew into the harbor as the winds switched for a week to come out of the South and West instead of the normal East. The Marina at Crown Bay was choked with the floating weed.
