It was a good time!

There were a lot of contestants and a good crowd of attendees, of which we were two. I was glad I wasn’t a judge because there was a lot of very good chili to be had. I guess the pictures tell the story.

4th of July in St. John

Capt. Tracy at the wheel
We head for Cruz Bay

From the Dinghy Poker Run we sailed quickly down to Maho Bay to celebrate 4th of July with friends. On the 4th Captain Tracy and the rest of us motored from Maho to Cruz Bay to see the parade. We anchored Limm’en just off the beach and crossed the street to see the parade.
Limm'en anchored at the beach

ready for the parade

We were in plenty of time and the streets were full of people in a party mood. There were lots of food and craft booths set up and next to the customs building a Carnival Village has been set up.
The parade starts
Nice Trike

The parade started with the Carnival Queens and some bikes and then came the various organizations and music groups. What can you say about a parade? The pictures tell it all. It wasn’t a long parade, but it was a slow parade that lasted all day.

After the parade we headed back to Maho for dinner and swimming then when the sun was down at about 7:30 Captain Tracy once again took us into Cruz Bay to see the fireworks. It was a dark trip through island passages and skirting mooring fields, but we made it there and back safely. The Fireworks were great, lasting 30 minutes, but I couldn’t get any good pictures. It was a fun and memorable 4th of July!  Hope you and yours celebrated a wonderful moment of American History.
