Who makes the best chicken wings in the USVI? That is
what this contest was all about! Anyone could enter, restaurants,
organizations, individuals. For $120 you got the opportunity to show your
culinary skills and 80 pounds of chicken wings as a starter. On Saturday, June
15th all the king hopefuls set up booths in Megan’s Bay and the
contest was on! There were grilled wings, barbeque wings, fried wings, and
boiled wings each covered with their own secret sauce or coating.

For we the enjoyers, it was $2 to get into the Magan Bay
park, a big beautiful sand beach with numerous pavilions, shelters, restrooms
and barbeques, and $20 for 25 tickets, each of which gets you a wing.

| There was a good crowd in attendence |
There
were loads of people there all in a party atmosphere and hungry for wings. A
couple of bars at the ends kept us all from getting dehydrated and to quench
the burn from some of the wings. The clear cool water offered relaxation and
time to digest the myriad of wings. What more can be said about the contest
that the pictures don’t tell, except it was a wonderful fun time for participates
and eaters alike.
